Chief Scouts Visit to Hesley Wood Camp 30/5/2010

Camp went well, all explorers contributed excellently got a few good pictures of Bear. Tam was delighted to get a hug and picture with Bear (see attached). thanks to him above for good weather, all you explorers for attending and a special thanks to Chris Moore for all his efforts especially as he was going on holiday as well.

Camp @ Hesley

Remember personal equipment Sleep bag, cutlery etc tomorrow. Cash 4 a takeaway, camp fees & £3 for Sunday - parental consent form & necker are essential, not optional.
Meet @ HC hut 1pm 4 the cycle ride in :-( weather permitting:-) - you'll need to get out the equipment you'll need ie tents etc

Chief' visit & camp

For those camping meet at Hoyland Common Hut 1pm Sat, you'll be cycling to Hesley towing your kit in the trailers. I understand you are going down Chap for tea.
Remember neckers, cash etc
Breakfast Sunday get some bacon & sausages as jim may be late. It is costing £3 for the day, we're running a bouncy castle, selling burnt bacon butties and helping cubs & scouts with their activities.
Sunday you must be on site by 10am when the gates close till 5pm when we cycle back to drop off the equipment.

FW: Gilwell 24

Just a reminder about Gilwell 24.
County are still trying to sort this after a number of Explorers expressed an interest. The cost is likely to be £50 including entry fee, t-shirt and transport; food is additional.
If you want to attend, then please let me know so I can pass numbers to John at County, then he can determine if it is feasible to organise. Deadline is this Friday!

Need parental consent forms & deposits by end of Monday from anyone wanting to camp @ Chief Scouts visit or Tarnoree!
We will accept printed or email copies. No form = No Go. Simples innit?
Have you checked out the calendar for what else is on & let us know your interest
We need to be putting together next years calendars - send in your (legal & affordable) ideas
We need more people making entries on this blog, rather than it just being a stuffy old source of information - come on you cyber geeks.

Update

Thanks to Shaun, Ash, Baggy, George, Tom, Stoner, Lodgy, Dale & Harry for the bike ride last night - it was 14.8km.
I understand ice skating is off next week as we've not received any activity consent forms and so cannot book it!
Tesco bag packing 5th June - please let a Leader know, who can & who cannot go by 25/05/10! We have a list of do's & don't that we have to comply with.
Chief Scouts visit 30/05/10 - need permission forms from those wanting to camp by 25/05/10 along with a £5 deposit, we need to liaise with the district leaders to firm up the plans.
Tarnoree 19/06/10 is cancelled. However we will still be running a camp for Hoyland & Hoyland Common (who have booked), again we need to liaise with the leaders to plan the activities etc. We need permission forms from those wanting to camp by 25/05/10 along with a £5 deposit.
Think that's it but I'm sure you'll let me know.

Dear all,

1. Are you camping at Hesley Wood for the chief scouts visit ? Then I need to know by this Friday the 21st.
2. All explorers are expected to commit to at least the full day on the Sunday 30/5/2010, no feeble excuses please.
3. Also can you let me know by this Friday the 21st if your camping at the Tanoree weekend in support of Georges efforts.
4. Next weeks ice skating, we again have had to cancel the activity because we have not had any consents back or any real commitment from you explorers

FW: Young Leader Unit Reminder

Don't forget our next Young Leader training session will be held on Thursday, 13^th May at 8pm at Penistone HQ.  It is Module G – Programme Planning, even if you have already done this module (we have run it once before) it will be beneficial for you to attend so we can share with you the new information available from HQ.  And we will have a guest visit from the ACC (Explorers) at our meeting, so do come along.  Then we will have the second part of Programme Planning in July, where we will also put on a BBQ and take a look at what we will do after summer for the rest of the year.  These two modules need to be completed in order; if you don't attend the first, the content of the second will not make as much sense.
