Mountain Bike Training

Scouting requires a Technical Mountain Bike Leader Award (Level 2) to take groups off road mountain biking. See this link for the course outline:
http://www.britishoffroadbiking.co.uk/scope.pdf
Please note there is no place within the scope of the scheme to cover activities under winter conditions.
I have arranged for a three day training course to be held @ Hoyland Scout Hut, Market St, Friday 11.04.08 to Sunday 13.04.08 costing £150 per person. Places are limited so it will be a first come first served basis, attendees must bring their own mountain bike and personal protection equipment/food etc. Following the training an assessment day costing £70 per person will be organised.

FW: Blog

I have emailed Roger asking if he will examine the musical abilities of anyone wanting to do the Musician Badge, get practising those notes!

Ian is happy to come up and do the theory one evening for the climbers badge The indoor climbing walls require too much paperwork & £, so we'll sort out two outdoor walls.

We need to finish map and compass work, so you really know what to do! Apex challenge is fast approaching and I am sorting out a scout and explorer challenge for September. Basically you will be taken to a location, dropped off and given a grid reference which you will have to walk to. There will be challenge bases on route and (if) you arrive you will have to build a bivvi and cook on an open fire!

We are doing the creative arts for your Bronze DOE Tue 26.02.08

Our next joint Explorer meeting is @ Wombwell in March - date to follow.

Anyone fancy caving? Andy Noble @ Darfield is our resident expert and we may be able to get him to take you down, deep down! Later this year.

Ben Mac. is working out costs etc for a go carting trip http://www.avagokarting.co.uk/thrills.html probably the Easter Holidays.
