Climbing

08:30 @Hoyland Scout hut for the climbing this Sunday. Remember a packup and drinks (unless you like eating grass). Those who've not brought the authorisation form signed by a parent and forget it on Sunday will not be able to climb!
Next Tuesday 18:30 @ Hoyland Hut for Bowling @ Carlton Bowl. Not sure of cost @ this time

 The Responsibilities of Executive Committee Members
  1. Chairman - The Chairperson is the co-ordinator of the Unit and the link between the Unit and its Leaders. The Chairperson is effectively the leader of the Explorer Scout Membership. (George)
  2. Secretary - The Secretary is responsible for recording the decisions of the Unit Executive by keeping a Minute Book of the meetings. The Secretary will also handle general correspondence. He/she will also responsible for arranging the Agenda for the Executive Committee Meetings and for the circulation of Agenda and Minutes to all concerned. The Secretary organises the production of the programme. (Nathan)
  3. Treasurer - The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the Unit and presenting Accounts and Balance Sheets to the Executive and to all members annually. The Treasurer should also prepare an annual budget for the Unit. He/she is also required to supply information to the Group Treasurer. Money will be kept in a Bank Account. (Dale)
  4. Recruitment & Public Relations Officer - Keeps in touch with local Scout Troops, their leadership and the local schools to promote the Unit and supports any new members, making them welcome. Keeps the Unit in high profile with the local radio station and newspapers and notifies them of any events the Unit is planning, with follow-up reports. (Adam)
  5. Quartermaster - Keeps track of the equipment the Unit has - maps, cookers, tents etc. The Quartermaster will keep records of who borrows the equipment and ensures that it is returned on time and in good condition. The role also carries the responsibility for ensure that the equipment is maintained properly. (Ben)

Bits n Bobs

The district camp Explorers are now - Province of Lapland (Lappi in Finnish and Sami, Lappland in Swedish) is one of the Provinces of Finland. In some parts of the world, particularly Britain and Finland itself, it is considered the traditional home of Santa Claus

We've been asked to act as Guinea pigs! There are some climbing exams coming up & I've been asked if we would care to be the group being trained by the students? Basically would you like to go climbing 29.06.08?

More Glider dates are available The Glider availability for April 2008 to March 2009 has been increased.

The Gliding Club now has a realistic Flying Simulator that will be available to Groups at £5.00 per half hour, when the weather prevents Flying.
