The Responsibilities of Executive Committee Members
- Chairman - The Chairperson is the co-ordinator of the Unit and the link between the Unit and its Leaders. The Chairperson is effectively the leader of the Explorer Scout Membership. (George)
- Secretary - The Secretary is responsible for recording the decisions of the Unit Executive by keeping a Minute Book of the meetings. The Secretary will also handle general correspondence. He/she will also responsible for arranging the Agenda for the Executive Committee Meetings and for the circulation of Agenda and Minutes to all concerned. The Secretary organises the production of the programme. (Nathan)
- Treasurer - The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the Unit and presenting Accounts and Balance Sheets to the Executive and to all members annually. The Treasurer should also prepare an annual budget for the Unit. He/she is also required to supply information to the Group Treasurer. Money will be kept in a Bank Account. (Dale)
- Recruitment & Public Relations Officer - Keeps in touch with local Scout Troops, their leadership and the local schools to promote the Unit and supports any new members, making them welcome. Keeps the Unit in high profile with the local radio station and newspapers and notifies them of any events the Unit is planning, with follow-up reports. (Adam)
- Quartermaster - Keeps track of the equipment the Unit has - maps, cookers, tents etc. The Quartermaster will keep records of who borrows the equipment and ensures that it is returned on time and in good condition. The role also carries the responsibility for ensure that the equipment is maintained properly. (Ben)
